This report provides the results of a global survey on the potential risks that may affect microfinance institutions’ growth and viability. 305 organizations across 74 countries responded to this survey in the fall of 2007. The questionnaire was divided into three parts: 1) respondents provided their main concerns about the industry over the next 2-3 years; 2) they also rated various risks based on their severity and possibility of actually occurring; and 3) finally, they were asked to rate the current ability of the industry to overcome these risks. This study not only shares the global results of the survey but also responses by institutional type and by region (e.g. Asia).
