HERMAN MULDER retired in July 2006 from ABN AMRO Bank after distinguished service of 27 years, holding leading positions in relationship management, defaulted loan restructuring & recovery, project finance and syndicated loans. Since 1995 he was Global Head of Structured Finance and since 1998 Senior Executive Vice President, Head of Group Risk Management and Co-chairman of the Group Risk Committee. He was the creator and first Chairman of ABN AMRO Group Foundation. In 2002 he was the initiator of the ground-breaking voluntary financial sector-initiative “The Equator Principles for project finance” (now adopted by more than 50 major financial institutions). He was actively involved in the creation of NFX (a joint platform between the Dutch government and Dutch banks focused on finance for development). In November 2005, he was made a Knight in the Royal Order of Oranje-Nassau for his initiatives on sustainable development. In the period 2000-2004 he was a non-executive Board Member of the Bank of Asia (Thailand). He serves on the Project Management Committee as a nominee of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and brings a long term strategic perspective to the operations of MicroSave.
K. C. RANJANI is the Chief Executive Officer of Dia Vikas Capital Private Limited, a social venture capital fund supporting microfinance and livelihood institutions in India. Before joining Dia Vikas as its CEO, Ranjani did a year long stint with MicroSave as the Senior Microfinance Specialist. Prior to that she was a development banker with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) where she was instrumental in the establishment of the SIDBI Foundation for Micro Credit (SFMC). SFMC was a pioneer in wholesale lending to microfinance institutions and set benchmarks for other banks and financial institutions. A hardcore women activist, Ranjani has strong socialistic leanings and looks at microfinance as a means for reaching out to the poor. Ranjani’s strength is her ability to develop ideas and follow them through to fruition. Her current interests are in linking microfinance with livelihoods so as to enable sustainable development, She is a member on the Project Management Committee and brings very strong sectoral experience with an equally strong women focus into MicroSave.
CHRIS MURDOCH was Associate Partner of IBM’s Global Business Services prior to joining the Opportunity International Australia team, and was the leader of IBM’s business strategy practice in Australia and New Zealand . Prior to that, Chris worked for Price Waterhouse Coopers Business Strategy practice advising some of Australia’s leading corporations. He has over 10 year’s consultancy experience in strategy development and implementation, specialising in Telecoms and Products businesses. Chris leads Opportunity Australia’s Strategic Services division, which provides market participation and intelligence to Opportunity International Australia, and facilitates the provision of technical services to microfinance institutions in Asia. He is one of the key architect of OI’s strategy for supporting microfinance in India and his vision has enabled rapid outreach of Opportunity’s footprint. He is a distinguished member on the Project Management Committee of MicroSave and brings strategic direction to the operation of MicroSave.
MOUMITA SEN SARMA heads Microfinance and Sustainable Development at the ABN AMRO Bank, India. She set up the ABN AMRO India’s Microfinance business in 2003 and the ABN AMRO Foundation as well as Sustainable Development (SD) Unit in 2006. Under her leadership, ABN AMRO India has been awarded the 2007 IFC / Financial Times Sustainable Banking Award in the Emerging Markets category. Her team has recently produced, a Sustainability Report of the Indian Operations of ABN AMRO, a first of its kind for the Financial Services Sector in India . Moumita is a member of the ABN AMRO Bank’s India Management Team and has been with the Bank for the last 10 years, beginning with Risk Management Function (Wholesale Credit) and moving on to the Lending business (Large Commercial Clients) in 2001. Since 2004, she is a Board member of Cashpor Micro Credit, one of the oldest and most respected MFIs in India. Prior to joining ABN AMRO, Moumita worked with American Express Bank for 3 years, managing Corporate relationships; prior to that she was looking after the leasing and hire-purchase business of SRF Finance (now part of GE Capital) for 3 years and spent a year consulting with Price Waterhouse Coopers. Moumita is a member on the Project Management Committee and brings very strong social and ethical focus into the working of MicroSave.
ANIL KUMAR is a Senior Vice President at IFMR Trust and holds the additional responsibility of CEO of the IFMR Trust Holding Company. Anil started his career in a rural branch of Canara Bank and later joined ICICI Bank in 1996. His last assignment at ICICI was as Head of the Microfinance Institutional Development Team, which created over 200 MFIs across the country in 25 state. A keen rural professional, Anil has moved down market in a bid to seed sustainable financial systems for addressing the needs of the poor. He is a member on the Project Management Committee and brings his expertise in rural banking to MicroSave.
